The Riven Word

We are Plimoth Plantation’s Interpretive Artisans Department, and we are the people who research, build, maintain, and interpret all the structures in the 17th Century English (Pilgrim) Village.

And he sits and thinks of the things they know

September 14th, 2012 by Rick McKee

…And the moon swings clear of the tall black trees,

And owls fly over and wish him good-night,

Quietly over to wish him good-night…

excerpt from, “The Charcoal-burner” from A.A. Milne’s book, Now We Are Six

Thanks for the heads up, Rob Zimmermann

Robert Zimmermann? Robert Zimmermann is writing to your blog? As in, “you can call me Zimmy?”

    • Rick McKee says:

Dylan came to Plymouth in 1975, or so. Corky Pontz could tell us stories about a certain party in the fort. It was just a matter of time before he came back to help us make charcoal!

nice shots–I want these too and the post is very poetic–you’re a romantic–

  3. Sorry to burst your bubble, Mr. Follansbee, but I’m not The Robert Zimmerman, just a Robert Zimmermann who happens to be a carpenter working for Shelburne Museum, a museum of art/americana/etc housed in 39 historic buildings…which is why I read this blog (and Joiner’s Notes). It’s really great that you guys do these blogs. It’s a wonderful educational tool and has inspired me to write a few posts for our own blog: http://shelburnemuseum.blogspot.com/

Yet another post that has me jumping from one foot to the other saying “ooh!ooh!ooh!”
Not very dignified, but there you have it.
